Two Life Tips To Be Well Grounded As An Expat Thespian

Someone once called me relentlessly optimistic. I had to sit down and think about why.  I narrowed it down to two reasons that I would like to share with you.  This one’s very opinionated.  Do let me know your thoughts.  Today’s post?

Two Life Tips To Be Well Grounded As An Expat Thespian

Know Your Exit – The sign that you’re an adult is when you know, beyond all doubt, you’ve done your best and even though your outcome wasn’t what you wanted you can breathe easy and walk away.  Many will disagree with this statement and that’s fine, but knowing when to walk away from your acting career is a sure sign of self-confidence and self-worth.  It’s the engine that drives freedom & relieves all stress in this business.  Ensure that you have and will do all that you can to succeed. If you can say yes to that, what do you have to fear if your exit comes and you walk through.

Have a Plan B – Yes, I saw the Will Smith interview where he says, “There’s no reason to have a Plan B because it distracts you from Plan A.” I didn’t agree with that statement then and I sure don’t agree now. I’ve always had a Plan B.  Matter of fact, I technically have Plans B through D.  I don’t want any other plan except Plan A and when I see any sign that Plan B is nipping at my heels, I’m pushed even harder to accomplish Plan A.  Will’s way of thinking worked for him, but that doesn’t always work for others.  Have a Plan B and rest easy.

This business of acting is brutal.  It will chew you up and spit you out, so have a solid foundation of worth and never worry again…Expat Thespian!
