Brand Strategy As An Expat Thespian (2nd of 3-Part Series)

Last week was the first in this series about building your platform as an expat thespian. Let’s continue with the second pillar of this 3-part series. Today’s post?

Brand Strategy As An Expat Thespian

Goal To Pursue – When considering your brand strategy you must first figure what your goal is and be specific. For example, this blog’s main goal was to provide a place for expat actors be aware of education for the craft & business of acting overseas, while encouraging expat actors to think bigger. What is the goal for your brand?  When an actor starts at goal A and finishes at goal Z, how do you want them to have grown? These are the questions that can help when determining your brand strategy.

Target Audience – Every strategy has a target audience. A section of society or group within an industry that the brand strategy hopes to bring change to. In order to “make a difference” you must first know what change you want to invoke.  When determining your target audience ask yourself one question, “Who specifically benefits most from the information I want to convey in my goal?”  Put yourself in the shoes of the audience you want to reach, because the minute you forget your audience your brand strategy is moot.

Brand Buy-InYour target audience wants to ‘buy-in‘ to your product, but you have to show them how the ‘buy-in’ is a value to their career. So ask yourself, what is it that you’re doing to convince your target audience to invest in your goal? What do you provide for that audience that helps them see your brand as a valued investment?  You would never buy a burger from McDonald’s if you didn’t know the value of The Golden Arches. Help your audience understand the ‘buy-in‘. It’s in that value that your brand strategy will succeed.

Take a minute and determine what it is you want to accomplish with your brand strategy.  Your strategy isn’t hidden and it’s not a puzzle, it’s a layout, a design to help see beyond the obvious…Expat Thespian!
