How To Save On Training As An Overseas Actor

Training can get expensive for an overseas actor. Sometimes, the plane ticket, plus hotel, food and the cost of the workshop can be a pricey total. But I'd like to discuss ways to keep more money in your pocket. Today's post?

How To Save On Training As An Overseas Actor

Rack Up Your Freebies -  Many acting coaches, talent agents, managers & casting directors offer freebies as a selling point.  Whether it be a video with free acting tips, an online group training class or a guide to assist actors with social media. They use these freebies to entice you to buy their main product. These free gifts are a great way to figure out which professional you want to work with and which product to buy in on. Are you currently looking for some freebies? Check out The Thriving Artist Circle  or Marketing 4 Actors. (Be sure to scroll down)

Train Online - There are times when the regular class isn't viable for the overseas actor.  However, an online class, if managed properly, can be an advantage. Let's say a class is $75 an hour.  Well, you might not be able to do every week so try every other week. Some great training is better than no training at all. In today's market any advantage is better than none.  If you're interested in some great classes for a great price then click here.  Paul Russell of Acting: Make It Your Business is an amazing coach.

Attend Community Workshops - Here in Korea we have something called Shakespeariments. It's a great place to practice a Shakespearean monologue and get a critique from other actors in the room.  No, the other actors aren't always well known acting coaches but an outside perspective, to your acting ability, is always valuable.  Find a local workshop, hopefully it's free but it will definetley be cheaper and advantageous.

"Free" doesn't always mean good quality so make sure your checking the value of what you're receiving.  Here's to your savings...Overseas Actor!

I hope you enjoyed these tactics for actors working in a foreign country. Do you agree? Please reply in the comments below with your thoughts or questions on acting overseas.
